Locating Games in Casino Gambling Software

Once new players are logged in at the online casino of their choice they need to be able to locate the games they want to play quickly. Having to hunt around for the games not only wastes time but is a frustrating as well. This article provides some pointers on how to locate games within the casino software.

The games offered by the online casino are listed in the Games Menu, which is always prominently displayed somewhere in the lobby. It is something that players cannot miss. The mechanism of locating games within the Games Menu can be fairly simple for online casinos that offer relatively fewer games. The online casinos that offer a very large number of games can have a more sophisticated mechanism for locating the games.

Rival Gaming is an online casino software provider that currently offers about 70 games. It has one of the simplest mechanisms for locating the games. The Games Menu is usually found in the bottom left hand corner. Above the menu are listed the main games categories. In Rival Gaming casinos these categories are Slots, i-Slots, Table Games, Video Poker and Specialty Games. Moving the cursor on top of the selected category reveals the complete list of games in a drop down menu to the right. Because the number of slots games is larger and it is common practice to sub categorized slot games, moving the cursor on Slots reveals the three sub categories. These are 3-Reel Slots, Video Slots and Progressives. Players can recognize that these are sub categories because an arrow indicates that there is more to follow. Moving the cursor on these sub categories reveals the complete list in a drop down menu as before. A piece of information that new players look for is which are the new games released at the online casino. Rival Gaming online casinos indicate this by marking the new games with a "NEW" tag in the final drop down list. Though within the lists the games are listed alphabetically, the new games are moved to the top of the lists for easier access.

Cryptologic on the other hand provides one of the more sophisticated mechanisms for locating games. There is a Games Menu that functions in a similar manner. But on selecting the category or sub category the games are displayed in a different format. In fact the players can choose one of the two formats offered. One format displays the thumbnails of the games logos. This may not be a good option for new players who may find it difficult to recognize the logos of the different games. For new players the better format is the listing of the games in alphabetical order. However, going through the games menu can be a cumbersome affair for new players at Cryptologic online casinos. For example in the video slots category the games are further classified according to the number of paylines. If the new player does not know the number of paylines in the slot game he is looking for then he can be in for a difficult time. Therefore Cryptologic has provided some mechanisms that will be extremely helpful to new players. One is the search engine. New players can enter the name of the game they are looking for in the search box and the link to that game will be immediately revealed. Even if the player does not know the name of the game accurately the search engine provides a list of similar sounding games. The software also automatically saves the games most recently played or most frequently played in a separate list. The player can also save favorite games separately. The Cryptologic mechanism for new games released is also more user-friendly. Instead of marking the games as new in the regular list, the new games are also separately classified under New Games.

Comment by: raytheon On: February 25, 2010 The easier it's designed for players to find exactly what they're looking for I think that the longer they're going to stick around. For example if you were trying to buy something on amazon and there were like 20 steps before you were able to make it to the checkout changes are that you'd abandon the shopping cart and go somewhere else. I beleive that the same thing applies when playing at online casinos or doing anything else online for that matter.
